مدرس الشعر الإنجليزي والأمريكي بكلية الآداب جامعة القاهرة. تقدم برنامجا إذاعيا أسبوعيا “البحث عن الذهب” على موجات البرنامج الأوروبي المحلي (كل ثلاثاء منتصف الليل) يُعنى بكتابات المبدعين الشبان ومناقشتها. مدربة جندر وعضوة في “مؤسسة المرأة والذاكرة” وحكاءة. كاتبة مقال في جريدة “المصري اليوم”.

- سيدة المنام، مجموعة قصصية (شرقيات) 1998
- دارية، رواية حاصلة على جائزة “أندية الفتيات بالشارقة” 1999. دار الشروق 2008.
- آلهة صغيرة، مجموعة قصصية (ميريت) 2003.
- نون، رواية حاصلة على جائزة كفافيس للنبوغ 2007. دار الشروق 2008.
Currently a lecturer of American & British poetry at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University. Elmougy is also a radio presenter of a cultural show concerned with writing. The show is presented on the English Local Service of Radio Cairo (FM 95.04) every Tuesday midnight. She work sas a part time gender & creative writing trainer, translator & columnist in Elmasry Elyoum daily. Having started writing in 1994, Elmougy now has four books, two collections of short stories & two novels.Her two novels have received Arab & international prizes.

2. Daria. A novel. Winner of the Arab Women Writers Competition held in Sharja 1998. Published in the Egyptian – Lebanese Publishing House, 1999. Dar Alshorouk 2008.

4. Noon. Alhelal novels 2007. Winner of Cavafis Prize 2007. Dar Alshorouk 2008.

I am a Libyan international student from Italy enrolled in the Arabic Language Institute at the American University in Cairo. I have graduate din Communication Studies in Canada last June and I am mastering my skills and knowledge in Arabic and Arabic culture/media landscape. I aspire to become an international correspondent for a multinational media outlet.
I am Arabic by origin, Italian by birth, and North American by education. We were discussing in an Egyptian colloquial class female Arabic voices regarding gender roles in Egypt and other regional countries, and we’ve come across your book Daria and though we have not yet read it, we discussed its overview to learn new words and expressions in the rich Egyptian colloquial, but other than learnign new words, all of us students actually were left with big questions in our head.
As soon as got home, I Googled your name and I came across some of your works and interviews and was struck by your innovative and foundational ideas on women in Egypt. I am Interning for Masry ElYoum and The Daily News Egypt (that is bundled with The International herald Tribune), I would like to know if you would be interested in holding an interview with me, that would shed light on your work, as well as your personal reflections on identity/autonomy issues, feminism, but also gender roles in global societies as a whole.
Should you be willing, I can either easily send you my questions by email and await your response, or interview in person at your own convenience.
