Hello, I'm new here so I dunno exactly what I'm supposed to do..well anyway, this is a short story I wrote a while ago for a creative writing workshop.
Agony
I finished most of the daily chores I had to do after the very tiring day at work; fatigue dawned on me after the continuous cycle of doing the dishes, making the beds, taking the garbage out and doing the laundry. "Damn it, the laundry!"
I rushed upstairs to get the basket full of dark clothes that belonged to my seventeen year old disaster of a daughter, Tamy.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved my daughter. She was a beautiful, smart and talented girl with a voice that belonged to an angel but ever since her father and I got separated she changed.
I couldn’t understand her change; she was never fond of her biological father. He wasn’t a man to like, always yelling, always angry and taking it out on me and most of all on his daughter.
I remember her sixth birthday, I had the cake ready and the birthday candle burning brightly, she stood there watching in awe and amazement. I stroked her hair slowly "happy birthday to you…happy birthday to…"
"Mommy, wait" she cut in suddenly, searching for something, "what’s wrong sweetheart?"
"where’s daddy?" she wanted him with her, to blow her sixth candle away with us, instead we got more than we bargained for.
She ran inside to his study where he usually sat sipping on the poison he filled his veins with.
The study was a dimly lit room that looked more like a prison-cell covered with books he never touched. He said it made him look good in front of people.
He was lounging on his chair, his legs crossed over the oak desk in front of him.
"Daddy?" she whispered as If she was anticipating the coming storm. He didn’t even bother to look at her, his gaze was fixed on the drink he held dearly grazing the smooth surface of the glass with his finger.
"Not now baby girl".
"Daddy, please! Come blow the candle with me" I heard her beg him. I followed her inside the study to get her away from him, knowing that his temper will flare any moment and a six year old shouldn’t be the receiving end of the wrath of a forty two year old alcoholic, but sadly she was.
"I said Not now" He articulated every word clearly, you’d think he was sober, "no daddy, please come on" she begged.
When she found her attempts fruitless, she rushed to his side and tried to force the glass out of his hands. I saw her every move and alert flared in my mind; danger was all I felt.
I called her name but everything happened so fast, his glass fell from his hand shattering into shimmering yet menacing shreds. Next thing I know he was on his feet and blew down on her with his full force, slapping her so hard she almost flew to the other end of the room, glass cutting though her beautiful skin.
I stared in horror at her as she got up, her arms were bloody, his palm marked her left cheek with painful redness; it was horrifying.
I tried to save her from his rage but instead I got pushed against a wall and he continued taking all of it out on her, the strange thing was she didn’t scream.
Holding the basket in one arm, I headed for Tamy’s room where the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign glared at me from the back of her door.
I knocked on her door more than once, but it went unanswered. That didn’t alert me, it was typical of Tamy; she barely spoke, never answered me and always liked to stay alone.
I opened the door and stepped in the dark room lit by the silvery glow of the moon coming through the open balcony.
"Tamy?" I called but I got no answer, I was going to call for her again when I heard her voice singing,
I stepped in the tiny balcony when I saw her, dressed in the white ruffle ballerina outfit I got her before she quit dancing, she was standing on the edge with her skateboard clutched in her hand and sang,
"A tout le monde
A tout mes amis
Je vous aime
Je dois partir
These are the last words
I'll ever speak
And they'll set me free"
And she hopped on her skateboard and jumped.
The last thing I heard from her, for the first time in eleven years, was her agonizing scream.

PS.: the song in the end is :A tout le monde by MegaDeath.
